That is apparently what it's all about appearing out of the
White House carrying out a star-studded meeting yesterday led by White House
Senior Advisor Valerie Jarrett. Its mission: Learn how to promote the
Affordable Care Act.
Those types of reporters attending: Oscar winner Jennifer
Hudson, Emmy nominee Amy Poehler, actors Michael Cera and Kal Penn, and reps
for Oprah, Alicia Keys, and Bon Jovi.
The purpose of the meeting, which featured a drop-by from
President Barack Obama himself, ended up being to share methods for getting
Hollywood's assist in getting in touch with a younger demographic to sign up
for medical health insurance starting this fall.
This comes only a month after the NFL rejected the Obama
administration's prefer to recruit pro football stars in the effort. That came
following your GOP's top two senators sent what is deemed a threatening letter
to NFL officials.
"In the divisiveness and protracted unpopularity on
this bill, it is difficult to know why an organization like yours would risk
damaging its inclusive and a political brand by lending its name for the
promotion," wrote Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ken., and GOP
Whip John Cornyn of Texas.
Mike Farah, president of the comedy website FunnyorDie.com,
told Shots that "I'd love only to enable them to send us directions prefer
that."
Farah was a student in the White House meeting Monday (his
first in the actual West Wing, he was quoted saying) and pronounced it
"awesome." According to him he finds it odd that senators would
"actually send directions attempting to discourage an organization from
watching a fresh law."
