Binge drinking can stop bones healing quickly after a fracture
Doctors have long observed that booze benders can impair the recovery process following a bone fracture.
And new information is providing insights into how alcohol slows healing.

The findings could lead to treatments to enhance bone healing in alcohol abusers %u2013 and perchance non-drinkers also.

Researchers in america studied the consequences that drinking had on bone healing in mice.
One band of mice was encountered with levels equivalent to 3 times the legal limit for driving.

Dr Roman Natoli, of Loyola University Clinic in Chicago, presented the findings in the American Society for Bone and Mineral Research annual meeting in Baltimore.
