Fairbanks mental health organization cuts staff

FAIRBANKS, Alaska -- A whole new type of the business that delivers mental health services in Fairbanks has reopened having a smaller staff.

Fairbanks Community Behavioral Health Center ended operations Friday since it made plans to file for bankruptcy.


The new Fairbanks Community Mental Health Services reopened Wednesday.

Workers after a few days are anticipated to be reduced from 63 to 25.

New chief executive officer Jerry Jenkins says the operation can finish free services.

The Fairbanks Daily News-Miner (http://bit.ly/156JHao) reports more changes are probably.

Jenkins says the Denardo Center, which provides 24-hour crisis care, will close at the end of soon unless a fresh funding is located.

Organization officials say they likely will move into a smaller building leave their main facility in south Fairbanks.
